Blind Bubbly Tasting
On September 4th a rather elite self-selecting group of us indulged in tasting some sparkling wines. We met at the house of our Chairman and thanks to Janet Jurica's expert handling of the event we sipped nine different 'bubblies' blind - the wines were passed amongst us hidden in conveniently sized sacks so that we could tell nothing about the wine in question from the bottle label. Few of us recognised the expensive champagne, preferring a good cava. The afternoon was a delightful and money-saving education of the palate.
